This training program is the result of the regional technical center and representatives from local firms reacting to a shrinking labor pool of workers adequately prepared to fill technical job opportunities in the machine tool industry. The result of this coalition is a curriculum designed to satisfy ever advancing technical requirements of incumbent and new employees seeking to reach new levels of skill development in machining. This proposal is unique to the area. There is no comparable training available. Implementation will allow employer partners to provide the related instruction required by the VT State Apprenticeship Program.
Caledonia Essex Technical Education Region is using this model as a template for the development of related programs to accommodate the needs of other industries seeking to upgrade incumbent workers or recruit newly skilled employees. We invite the commercial community to partner in the creation of modifications to this curriculum.
